LAURA VISITATION GUIDELINES

For the safety of our guests and staff and in accordance with state health guidelines, we will be implementing and observing strict visitation procedures, as outlined below.

RESERVATIONS:

  • Reservations will be required through our online booking system  
  • As of implementation of Phase 3 on Friday, September 11, 2020, tour sizes will be limited to a maximum of sixteen (16) guests accompanied by a tour guide
  • A limited number of walk-in spaces *may* be available, but cannot be guaranteed

 

ARRIVAL: Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a staff member on the front porch of the Laura Plantation Store.

  • Backpacks must be left in your car, with no exceptions
  • A non-invasive temperature check will be taken
  • If you do not have your own mask, you may purchase one in the gift shop
  • Hand sanitizer and/or wipes will be available
  • Masks are required at all times in the gift shop, the museum and the interior of the main house, the carriage barn and the slave cabin. *Anyone who refuses to comply with the mask requirement will not be permitted entry onto property.

 

RESTROOMS:

  • Handicapped accessible restrooms are adjacent to the gift shop.
  • Masks are required at all times in the restrooms
  • Hand sanitizer and/or wipes will be available
  • Staff will observe disinfectant practices as recommended by state health guidelines, to include consistent sanitizing of surfaces, lavatories, toilets, door knobs, etc.
  • General hand-washing practices are recommended

 

GIFT SHOP: The Laura Store is carefully curated with products by local artisans and books about Creole Louisiana. A limited number of guests will be allowed inside the gift shop in accordance with state health guidelines

  • Masks are required at all times in the gift shop
  • Guests must respect recommended social distancing practices
  • We request that purchases be made with a credit card to avoid handling cash
  • Hand sanitizer and/or wipes will be available
  • Staff will observe disinfectant practices as recommended by state health guidelines, to include consistent sanitizing of surfaces, credit card machines, door knobs, etc. 

 

MUSEUM: The self-guided, permanent exhibit, "From the Big House to the Quarters: Slavery on Laura Plantation" is adjacent to the gift shop.

  • A limited number of guests will be allowed inside the museum in accordance with state health guidelines
  • Masks are required at all times in the museum
  • Guests must respect recommended social distancing practices
  • Hand sanitizer and/or wipes will be availableStaff will observe disinfectant practices as recommended by state health guidelines, to include consistent sanitizing of surfaces, display cases, door knobs, etc.

 

GUIDED TOUR: Your 75-minute fully guided experience will be led by a professional interpreter and includes the historic grounds, the 1805 Maison Créole, formal and kitchen gardens, and original 1840s slave cabins.

  • Limited to a maximum of 9 guests per tour
  • Guests must respect recommended social distancing practices at all times during the guided experience
  • Masks required at all times during interior portions of the tour
  • Staff will observe disinfectant practices as recommended by state health guidelines, to include consistent sanitizing of surfaces, seats, benches, door knobs, etc.
