Restoration Updates - Summer 2005

As the summer heat bares down on South Louisiana, much progress has been made on the Laura Plantation manor house.   All ceiling joists have been installed as well as the floor joists.    Ceiling boards have arrived and been installed.  The walls and plates have been pegged.   Framing of the back gallery began as the porch was re-configured for the future "u-shape" rear wings.    The chimney bases were stabilized with the new lime-silt mortar mix.  Masons are working on the interior chain walls and exterior brick pillars.     The back gallery has been installed and primed.

Two additional fire hydrants were installed on plantation grounds, tying into the new water pipeline that was dug for sprinkler system that will be installed in the main house.  These fire hydrants are being installed at this time in addition to the 2 fire hydrants that were currently in place along the highway.
